The crisp autumn air has officially rolled in and its here to stay…at least for a few months. With the weather cooling down, the city’s events circuit inevitably heats up, and last month brought heaps of fun through the Valley. Scottsdale and its surrounding area’s blend of family-friendly activities, thriving nightlife, art, culture and leisure make it one of the most enticing entertainment hubs on the rise, not only in the southwest, but across the country. Steve LeVine Entertainment & Public Relations takes pride in helping produce, promote, and partner with many of these events, and with the year winding down and 2017 inching closer and closer, its hard to contain our excitement for what we’ve got coming up next year. But before we dish those details, let’s have a look back and some of the wonderful events held in November.
Fashion Week 4 Kids:
From face painting to fierce runway fun, Fashion Week 4 Kids was an absolute blast, easily topping our list of highlights from last month. The week-long fashion event event was capped off in the most festive way possible, with a Saturday celebration at the Scottsdale Waterfront. Local businesses, boutiques, performers, and attractions all came together for fashion shows, special retail promotions, and more. From local DJ talent to some of the Valley’s most recognizable sports mascots, FW4K pulled out all the stops in 2016. We cannot wait for next year’s event.
Bingo Players 10th Anniversary Tour:
SLE proudly hosts a wide variety of shows annually, bringing some of the most sought-after musical talent in the world right here to Scottsdale. Our show on Friday, November 11th, stood out as a one of the most special shows of the year. We celebrated Bingo Players’ 10th Anniversary at Maya Day + Nightclub, but Bingo Players’ Maarten Hoogstraten, nor his anniversary, were the star of the show. Instead, it was the cause behind the event, tying in support from cancer research and awareness organization F Cancer. Dance music suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Bingo Players’ Paul Baumer in 2013. While Paul lost his battle with cancer, his legacy did not, and his partner has carried on the Bingo Players banner, with the “s” still purposefully attached to the end. It was a special evening to be a part of, and of course, a night with Bingo Players always means top-notch house music. Surely a top highlight from November.
Shaggy at Livewire:
During the 90’s and early 2000’s, hip-hop broke out of its Brooklyn basement typecast and exploded into the mainstream. There to ride that wave was Shaggy, whose blend of pop, reggae, and rap made him one of the most recognizable and venerated performers of hip-hop’s golden era. Still making great tunes and keeping true to his roots today, Shaggy continues to perform across the country, and his appeal has unquestionably stood the test of time. Rapping his signature patois-primed, radio-dominating hits to a packed house at Livewire, Shaggy proved he hasn’t missed a beat since his “It Wasn’t Me” days.
Dash Berlin at Maya Day + Nightclub:
In the ever-expanding global EDM landscape, Dash Berlin maintains his position as one of the top DJs in the world; a spot he’s held for nearly a decade now. Touted as one of trance and progressive house music’s most distinguished tastemakers, the Dutch DJ hosted an immersive evening of music at Maya Day + Nightclub on November 18th. No stranger to the club’s pool or dance floor, Dash returned to Maya in top-form to lay down a characteristically flawless performance.
Rock The Block! Chandler 2016:
The name says it all and that’s exactly what we did. Rock The Block! held its 7th annual festival in Downtown Chandler on November 19th, featuring good food, great music, and a variety of amusements and attractions for the whole family. Chandler’s Got Talent, high-flying BMX stunts, games, prizes, and rides carried the day, while Vanilla Spice, Hourglass Cats and The Rich Berra Band put on stellar live performances to carry the evening. From showcasing our cities’ young aspiring talents at Chandler’s Got Talent to highlighting the vibrant, flourishing culture of the East Valley, Rock The Block! was an undoubted success, and we can’t wait to see some of those familiar faces (and a whole lot more) out at Ostrich Festival in March 2017.
